Something different: Part 7
It has been a while since my last update, so let's get to it.
The rear subframe is now completly in with huge thanks to Mark for all the measuring and welding....and more measuring...and more welding.....
Time to stop the talking and bring in the pictures:
First 2 parts in from the box section that will eventually be the mounts for the rear subframe, at this time the rear subframe was being held by 4 jackstands for all the measuring.
Some drastic cutting to make room for the movement of the suspension arms
As you can see the subframe pins have been welded inside of the boxsection by Mark, making them pretty much bulletproof (and possibly stronger then original)
Also you can see that the boxsection is welded on to the original chassis making them a part of the car
The view from outside
Also a start has been made for the suspension (yes that gap is where the original chassis beams normally live.....) more from that later :)
Breaktime, nothing a cold can of Monster and WD40 can't do
Some of you might know that silly cooler they put in the S13 to cool the rear diff oil. Since the Diff never get's extremely hot it is rendered useless to use in the rear.
But that doesn't say i can't use it, it will now be a brother for my Power Steering, hopefully making sure the fluid does not get to hot
Take the top off and you end up with this
Later more when it goes in with the Steering Rack (if UK Customs does there job......)
With time to spend i made up some DIY engine mounts, everybody knows the Nismo spec engine mounts (that are silly money) and we all know that there is a better way of doing it.
10min on Ebay and 15 pounds later
Drill a hole
Put 2 pucks on a bit of thread
Plate, washer and nyloc
And done
Next update will be soon. Next step is welding in the propshaft tunnel, rear strut mounts and engine brackets
