Something different: Part 3
Are you ready for part 3? If not....please read Part 1 and Part 2 first ;)
Another 2 working days have passed and the front is pretty much finished, propshaft/gearbox tunnel and the engine mounts are next on the list.
What has been done is the cutting of the top turret mounts, the old civic mounting can't be used and due to the fact that the shocks are in a slight angle they had to be placed slightly towards the back. The welding has been a top job by Mark from AMPS (if you want quality welding, he is the guy the speak to).
So far for the talk, now it's time for the pictures.
Cutting of the top turrets to make room for the nissan plates
Cut and folding of the inner and outer skin to make room
We appear to be missing something.....
Top plate of the Nissan with strut
Mounting by using steel strips (temporary tags)
Finalising the steel strips, solid welds through and through
Inside view
Making cardboard cut outs for the steel platework
Steel platework welded up
Smoothing out some of the welds and covering it with some chassis black for now
Some filler to fill up the remaining gaps underneath, this will later be covered with a coat of bitumen together with the rest of the inner wheel arch
Also Mark has been working on finalising the mounting plates and points for the front subrame, trackrod ends and torsion bar.
These have been cut to size, drilled and threaded and welded to the boxframe and original Civic chassis
That was all for now, much more to come so keep your eyes on Fueltopia to follow it
