Yesterday saw a couple of us attend the RWTB event at Santa Pod. With a dry and cool day forcasted it look like everything had come together nicely. So setting off from home in a 5 car concoy we arrived at the pod ready to sign on. It looked a little quiet at first but withing an hour it was filling up nicely. Singing on sorted it was a breakfast stop on the way back to the cars while the track guys finished there work.
As I drove down the fire up lane the nurves started to kick in a little but once the crash helmet and gloves were on it was full on focus. With a goal in site i lined up on the start line and on the green light off i went.
After a great first run it was back to the pits to cool the car down ready for the next run.
About and hour later i was in the que for another run up the 1/4 mile with my goal still in sight.
Making sure i staged well the lights went green and i was once again flat out, by half track i was looking like i was on a fast one when all of a sudden I found some oil on the track and the car went for a little wobble so I had to let off and after that it was end of that run. You can see from the clip as I hit the oil the car moves around a bit and the car beside my come past as i let off. GUTTED.
As I pulled back into the pits I saw the track was closed and they were busy doing a clean up.
As the day went on more and more cars took to the track meaning queing time was about 40 minutes so was only able to get a few more runs in.
At the close of play I had a great day even though i was not able to reach my goal it was not a broblem as back out in 4 weeks so time for a couple of tweeks and fingers crossed i will do it then.
