Real Cars. Real Drivers, Real Performance

PHOTO COVERAGE :: DWYB Mid Week Madness

It’s a Wednesday. 4AM. My alarm goes off. Bewildered I stagger out of bed, load up on an extremely strong dose of coffee, grab my previously packed gear & head out to the car. Another Drift What You Brung day was upon me. :)

Once again just like the previous DWYB day I attended, I was heading down to meet the awesome couple Cole & Emma, who were heading up there in their Skyline R33 GTST’s ready for a full day of drifting. These guys are becoming regulars in my write ups. I’ve got to stop here and just say it’s because they are two of the coolest people I’ve been fortunate enough to meet through the UK Drift scene!

So I want to take the time here to thank them for all their support with my photography and the fact they kart me and my gear up to Santa Pod every time I go to watch them skid. It’s all about real people, helping each other out and achieving common goals, simple as that, love it!

Right lets get back on track, I’ve been driving down to their place for about an hour, listening to beats on the Aygo’s radio that would offend most people at 4AM, pretty sure some heavy duty dubstep was involved. I don’t even listen to that stuff normally but I found it worked for me to get me up and ready to go. ;) It’s now 6AM, & I’m outside Cole & Emma’s place, cars are looking fantastic, now fully loaded with logos from all their new sponsors, Lucas Oils, Super Pro Bushes, JDModified garage, just to name a few…the cars look stunning, & it’s brilliant to see their reputation & skills reward them with even more sponsors than last time I met with them back in January.

I’m met with the same warm welcome as per usual, always a pleasure to see these two so early in the morning, and you can’t say that about everyone hehe. Also want to give a mention here to Emma & the awesome heels that she actually drifts in! I was shown a new pair when I got to theirs that she’s been given for promo stuff by Iron Fist Clothing & it suddenly dawned on me that she drives in them, I’d never noticed till now…pure awesome. ;)

Heading out to Santa Pod we had to make a quick stop for another heavy duty dose of coffee. Once again getting admirers at every stop we make. You even get people in a suit, on their commute, get out their mobile and snap a picture when these two are sat parked up. All ages & all type of people succumb to their rugged charm & appeal.

What I personally love about the cars is that it’s awesome to see two almost matching cars such as theirs out in the open, covered in sponsors & obviously ‘driven’ with purpose. Normally competition cars are trailered, so to see two arrive on their own power is fantastic & attracts so much attention from everyone & anyone on the road around us.

Arrived up at Santa Pod just before 9. Good to see some familiar faces there & some other people that introduced themselves to me. I set about wandering the pit area whilst everyone setup their cars for the day ahead. As usual the atmosphere was extremely friendly and everyone was up for a chat.

The safety briefing was quickly followed by the first set of tyres being chewed up of the day. I musn’t forget to mention that the weather was stunning! The track was nice & hot which was leading to some serious smoke machines out on track!

Definitely another fantastic day among some very talented drivers, all of whom are always friendly & happy to chat away about their passion that is drifting, awesome atmosphere!

Anyway I’ll let my pictures from the day do the talking as well as a video showing Cole expertly working his way round the Santa Pod drift track layout. Makes it look easy eh? hehe ;)
