Real Cars. Real Drivers, Real Performance

Been a very busy 4 weeks here at Bennett Racing, just attended 4 events in 4 weeks but had a great time at each and showed the '32 Fiat Topolino off to over 35,000 people.  Given a brief write up of each event below, hope you enjoy.

First up the NSRA Outlaw Picnic

We arrived to blue skies and temperatures of over 30+ and set up our little backup gazebo to keep the sun off of us.  We actually wished we had brought a paddling pool, it was SOOOOO humid.

We had the body off at this event too, lets people get right up close to the car and really learn more about it.  We were on hand all day as usual with all events to explain and answer questions.

Had a great time talking to the public, explaining the car and of course watching some of the 1/8th mile racing that they were holding too.  Some really nice cars there.  Nice to watch!

Then this happened!  Completely out of the blue, we covered the car and huddled under the gazebo.

Ten minutes later back to this and people back around the car, awesome day!

Luke also brought along his little girls car, with the flames!  Think they were giving the car a clean here :-)

Both hot rods together at the end of the day, great event, fast racing and a really good day had by all.

Next event - The Buster Lang Hot Rod Show

We were actually invited to this at the Damn Yankee's show (earlier in the year), and thanks to Steve and Heidi for the invite.  We all had a superb day, definetley one to add to the calendar.  For the public, £5 to enter and kids under 12 free - very fair prices and it showed as it was full and was only its 2nd year.  Sure to get bigger and bigger each year.

Got there bright and early and setup, weather already looking good for the day.

Our t-shirts on sale on the day, thanks to all who bought one - helps support the team!

Adam and Dan busy all day talking to people and explaining the car.  Really good to see.

Then we thought as there were a lot of kids in attendance we'd give the good ones a sit in the car, they loved it!  Few photos of them having a drive!

As the sun was out, it was a day for chilling, here is Gracie with her grandad (Frank, driver of the Topolino) having a nice relax!

And one of Luke with his little girl looking deep in thought!

Some more photos we took from the day via this link:

Next event - TRAX

This was as you'd expect, the busiest event for us this year, over 20,000 people and we were in the main section so were non stop from waking up till midnight, big thank you to Steph and Kat for sorting tickets and location etc!  Also a big thanks to the guys and girls at FastCar magazine for being to good and letting us nick a bit of there space and for not wanting to block us in, great guys!

Dropped the car off on Saturday evening then departed to check in at the hotel and went for our TRAX tradition, a full on curry!  Very nice place and great food.

Car out of the garage, cleaned and ready to display.

We were also handing out our very nice new hero cards, supplied and designed by one of our sponsors www.pwrd.co.uk - we worked out we gave out over 2000 of these, so greatly received.

Only 9am and already very busy - only to get busier throughout the day.  Loved it though. Superb day.

Sammy our promo girl for the day, ultra professional, very polite, a joy to work with.

Very busy all day.

Overall a cracking day, really enjoyed it.  Can't wait for next year!

Next event - Forge Motorsport Action Day

This one was another great event, invited by our long time sponsors, Forge Motorsport to display the car and we jumped at the chance.  We were situated in the Forge marque for the day, and what a day it was.

Only 7am and the fog is lifting.

The sun is slowly emerging :-)

Drawing people into the Forge marque all day, again answering lots of questions people were asking.  Loved the interest in the car.

Great view of the track thanks to the hospitality of Forge, thanks guys!

Busy all day, really good day and perfect weather.

Then I had the chance to have a passenger ride in an 800hp Evo VI....errrr yes please!  Amazing grips levels and a quick car.  That was until it threw a rod and had a big fire, but to be honest I am glad it was me in the car and not some young girl or something as I think they might have panicked.

We handled it like pro's ;-)  just a real big shame it took them so long for the marshals to turn up because to be honest the car could of burnt to the ground had the flames got a hold.

The flames did come into the car but thankfully no burns to either of us though, just smoke inside, but we were that casual about it that as it was coming to a stop, we were like,

'well suppose we had better get out then' haha

No point getting in a hissy in this type of situation otherwise you get caught up getting out.

I was gutted for Chris, was loving the drive round and it only went bang at just over 3k rpm (which suggests big failure like rod bolt), it did go bang.

Just glad we both got out and that its already being repaired.

Overall a cracking event and we can't wait to attend next year, I just didn't enjoy the drive home!

The end of a superb day.

Once again thanks to everyone who commented on the car, to all who bought a Bennett Racing t-shirt and to all involved with putting these events on.  Roll on next year!

It's teams like you guys that make these events so good. It's a real pleasure for people like us and our kids to be able to get close and talk about what you do and how you do it. My kids have sat in your car and loved it. Thanks for the insight.

Dan, just a tad!  All worth it though, met some great people.  Yeah let us know when you're free and we can sort something.  Next show for us is the Motorsport Show in the Silverstone Wing.
