Something different: Part 4
A lot has been done over the last couple of days, the rear subframe has been taken apart, cleaned, re-welded and painted.
Also it has been put back together again, new nuts and bolts, adjustable top arms. Later on the bushes will be replaced with new solid ones (aluminium) before final assembly.
Plate welded it by Mark to give the triangle more strength (they are famous for breaking welds so better safe then sorry).
Diff painted:
All back together again, now with new Stainless Steel Bolts & Nuts (nylocks), so atleast they won't rust away anymore
Mark finished of the welding on the front of the car, making 2 box tube braces and filling the rest in with plate.
After that the engine bay got some colour back and is now ready. The firewall remains not painted because the tunnel has to be cut and welded.
Box section for bracing
Box sections welded in by Mark
Sheet metal being welded in place by Mark
Front Painted and ready
We also have made a start to the rear of the car, the floor has been cut, the rear subframe has been placed on axle stands and tomorrow there will be a lot of measuring going on
Before we started
A couple of minutes later
Putting the rear subframe on axle stands underneath the car (not put on the final place yet so don't look at height etc).
By the end of the day
That was all for now, much more to come so keep your eyes on Fueltopia to follow it
