Friends like these...

Last Sunday, the crisp air of winter finally hit the UK. As many car owners have now tucked up their pride and joys for winter, it’s the ideal time to get jobs done in preparation for the next motoring season.

It’s a sad excuse that my tool collection is lacking – this isn’t something I’m proud of and as a petrolhead verges on near shameful. However, over the coming months and possible move on the cards to a new workshop garage – the tool collection will grow to a respectable arsenal,…

Toyota FT-86 II - the AE86 of now

It was only last week that I ventured south of the M25 to Epsom in Surrey to meet with the guys from Toyota. It’s an exciting time for the Japanese car manufacturer as they’re on the verge of launching a car that has had the tongues of petrolheads wagging for a few years.

The FT-86 II, a joint venture with Subaru, is a fine looking car – from the concept sketches to the test mule, it has the right lines, in the right places and the boxer engine is an exciting…

Monday 20th November 2011: Bantam update and titanium parts.

Well, progress is really starting to come along on the SuperPower Bantam, we have just started to fit the timing case to the block, bit of a job as my block is a Gen 6 block and the timing case is of MKIV design. It was not so much of a problem - all we needed to do was install a cam and the crank to line up to the cover correctly, then to drill and tap the block to fit studs.

The next job after that…

Old Skool Styling for VW Golf Mk2

Clean up that VW Golf Mk2 front grille with an RGM Badge Delete Grille which incorporates a Grille Spoiler and finish it off by colour keying the Grill Spoiler to blend it into that hard nosed bonnet edge.

The result a modern Eurotuner look that cleans up the car’s front end in a subtle, yet…

Top Gear Live

It was a long and successful weekend for Rico Rally at Top Gear Live over the weekend.

Arriving mid-afternoon on the Thursday to set up our show space we were greeted straight away with a Ferrari 458 being unloaded and then an Enzo. After that the glorious metal just kept coming... a Lambo LP640, Gallardo's, a full carbon Koenigsegg, Noble's and a plethora of cars that were achingly…

4000hp Street Race Video - You'll hate it

Street Racing, yes it's wrong. We all know the risks involved and in no-way, shape or form, would I openly encourage anyone to choose the public highway over a track... However this video is awesome, I mean bad!

Three exotics that have a combined power output of over 4000hp go head to head on the highway in the dead of night - already my petrolhead glands are working overtime in…

Heat Management - an important part of building a racing car

so...... its 11.25 currently and i have just got in from a long day in the workshop and on my 45 minute drive back to my house I've been doing some serious thinking about heat management, now i understand this probably isn't the most exciting topics but in the racing game I'm in it is somewhat important.

When converting an existing road car into a race/drift/track car you will more often than not come across this…
